So I had (and wrote about) this magical experience with Valeria Krasavina. But when the fairy dust settles on an experience like this one, when you’ve been all swept up in a magical fashion moment, big or small, how do you incorporate these pieces into your real (and okay, largely unmagical) life? It seemed like a useful thing (and a relatable one) to explore.

Summer is often when we have these really special fashion experiences, maybe a little shop you stumble on in a salty little vacation town, or an artisan making shoes in a small Italian workshop. It’s easy (and exciting!) to be swept up in the moment. But it shouldn’t be just a moment and just a memory. It’s clothing, and if you’ve chosen it, if you’ve taken it home, it deserves to be worn. Don’t let them get so “special” in your mind that your tiptoe around them or treat them like souvenirs. Here’s a how-to. With some illustrations.
