First up, a word to fellow migraineurs … because the seasonal change may have you suffering. I’ve been there, done that, gone to the ER. Definitely keep trying something preventative. Today I am (finally!) migraine free. I use Qlipta, with Nurtec as backup, and this is after I thought debilitating 4 day bouts would be part of my life forever. DM if you need more help. Also, I have found that icy cold Lambrusco and Pet Nat are the only two wines that don’t give me a problem. (No way, rosé.) If you know someone suffering, please share.
Onward to the gems.
Reading your Substacks in Airplane Mode: Sometimes you just want to stay up to date and know the meat of the ideas and you’re trying not to shop and/or find yourself distracted because you’re following all the links. If you open up the story until the images download, you can then scroll it in airplane mode and the links won’t work. It’s just a calming way to digest. (I also enjoy having some of them read to me, which you can do by pressing the play button in the app.)
This shoe tie trick: My sneakers always come untied, and this guy on the plane gave me a tip that actually works. Ok, so the laces are completely out to start as usual. And the first thing you do normally is a single tie. Instead of going through once, go through twice. And when you crate a loop and encircle with the lace, encircle twice instead of once and tie as usual.
Filling up an empty shirt neck: I really like a polo neck to be crisp and fit right up to the top when buttoned. I like the clean look and coverage of it. But this styling from a recent Tibi email (so prob the work of Sarah Brody) got me thinking. It’s nice the way it makes use of that space creatively and adds another element, especially with the 2 color tee! Also a way to do the layering we crave but make it summery. If you’re not so sweltering and can abide; the tee under can be super light.
Thanking healthcare workers. Remember when we were so grateful for healthcare workers in the pandemic? We should STILL be! That’s f*cking hard sh*t. And we all have people in our lives (or ourselves) who’ve had to rely on tireless healthcare workers doing those hard shifts. For the second time this month, I found myself in a restaurant (early in the morning) where people in scrubs were having a mimosa with breakfast. If you see that, they are just getting off a shift, maybe a double. I imagine what they’e just dealt with. You can quietly treat them to their mimosas or just say thank you. One day we will all need TLC. I think it all comes around in a big circle. Nurses have been so lovely to my dad.
