6 Gems, Vol 33: how to get out of plans
preserve your strength and your integrity --> this way
If you know me, you know I have a strange, pollyanna-ish issue around lying and even fibbing. Like, it’s weird, but you know also it makes sense because memory loss after 45 is real enough without multiple stories to deal with.
Add to this the fact that I am a maker of plans. And a keeper of plans! I deeply value my relationships with my friends. This to me is an important part of the richness of life that I cannot be without. And unless you make and keep plans, you lose it.
That said, during the holidays a lot of plans come up that either aren’t doable, realistically, or do not add to the richness of life. Or in fact detract from it. I am against those plans! Time is finite, after midlife especially, and I don’t want to take time away from the plans and people that I actually need to live and breathe and be a whole person.
I figure I’m not the only one in this predicament, so with that in mind, I give you six ways to get out of plans without making up a story. Keep them in your notes app under EXCUSES.
