Why: Because Commonwealth Hotel is in Kenmore Square and “Fenway Pahk” is right nearby, which makes this an optimal stop for sports fans to visit.
Don Hamerman’s photographs were taken in a way that isolates the ball from everything else. The baseballs contrast with the simple colors used for the background. That shows off the little details of the balls.
With nothing in society staying the same lately, these “found baseballs,” show that the central part of America’s Pastime has stayed unchanged. Stadiums and uniforms have changed, but not baseballs. Even Elon Musk might just be satisfied.
