What a week.

At 54 in a 15+ year marriage, I didn’t expect to be thrown back into the worst of my dating times. But it felt like it.

At HCC a client ghosted us. Like refused to respond to email over and over. Who does that? This kind of treatment among human beings honestly breaks my heart. And can I say - that’s especially true when it’s a woman and a mission-focused organization. We are finally getting selective about our clients, and as a result, it’s like — you think you know someone, share values, believe in each other. You think they see you, your intentions, your intelligence, your person-ness.

In this day and age do people really think because you’re paying someone, that kind of treatment is ok? That it’s ok to be unkind?

And then there’s my 22 year old son. Who I love like - well, you know. It’s that “I’ll-help-you-bury-the-body” love. And he seems happy. That’s so good! Only he’s working full time and after working a full day he said, “I just don’t have the energy to be social.” And by “be social” he meant with me, his mom. I got to see him Sunday night for his birthday, but I did not get to see him on Monday while I was in Boston. He suggested a Zoom meal another day. Ow. It’s fine, I get it!

It’s just — when do I toughen up already? When does it hurt less? Who knows? Maybe this is the week!

And you can always, in getting dressed, at least try to shake off yesterday and resolve to manifest a better one today.

And so we did a week of do-overs, rewearing, tweaking, re-doing last week’s outfits. Here are the ahas. Some big and some small. First, the key ahas of the week:
