For those of us who haven’t fled to Miami for endless summer (you can’t be jealous; we suffer endlessly horrible politicians for it), August is about that last gasp. Eat all the peaches! And the corn! No meals indoors!
So you pack up the car, find some AirBNB and take one last road trip to somewhere, anywhere there’s water.
Packing the right stuff takes on added heft now, because to truly suck the marrow out of this last gasp (suck the peach juice, maybe ?), you want clothes that are functional so you’re not left out of anything or uncomfortable anywhere. But also clothes that feel like you. So you can feel like your best self for all of it.
And since I’m writing to you from Thursday of my returning-this-Saturday Maine trip, I have lots of tips.
