your Third Piece capsule is in
9 key pieces. By request.
You love this third piece business, and I don’t blame you. I love it too. I too love that you can start with something so simple, so relatable — a pair of jeans, a tee, a Pliable Dress — and use impactful add-ons to match your mood, to fit into a setting without buying something new, even to change the shape of an existing piece. In short: to get more life out of what you have.
And I also love that these third pieces don’t rely on fit. So . . . as much as I don’t think clothes are an “investment” — these are a place where I prefer to put my money as opposed to say, a pair of jeans that, with my hormonal shifts, changing focus or non focus on losing menopausal weight, evolving workout routines, etc., aren’t guaranteed to fit for all that long.
where we started
So by request, I gave you a full-on Third Piece Primer, including a link to LOADS of potential third pieces.
And I’ve introduced the concept of the Pliable Dress, a canvas ripe for those third pieces:
On IG, I shared that I REFUSE to buy event dresses. Instead, I just have two options that can work for black tie (and lots of other things, too) and I mix them up with third pieces for different moods and occasions; they can even flex to black tie.
where we are
Since then, a lot of you have shared that you got yourself that Pliable Dress. Maybe in the Tibi sale. You’re bought into the idea of one dress that you repeat, shifting it for different moments with these Third Pieces. So now you just need the right third pieces. But you don’t know where to start.
I get that. I’ve collected my own Third Pieces slowly over decades. And I get that the idea of starting out can feel overwhelming. That’s why I wanted to give you an answer that’s not, “keep your eyes open at thrift shops and just kind of let it happen to you.” Instead, I decided to create a Third Piece Capsule. Here, the exact pieces you want to start with, and why. Enough to never need a new dress if you don’t want to buy one. And to never get bored. And to always look right, to feel that Lofted Settledness in every situation you’re in.
(BTW, if you don’t have the Pliable Dress yet, I’ll link some of those, too.)
I’m about to arm you with all. the. answers. Ready? Here’s your capsule …
