[Almost] Off like a dirty shirt.
This week’s outfit planning prompt was LCS - Last Chance Summer. Wearing all those things you might only wear right now, getting them in before the clock winds down on August. In real life, though, I am so f*cking ready for this summer to end.
I love the family time. Numero uno. Seeing Boston friends whom I cherish. I love the balmy air. I love the salty New Englandness. I love the rainbow flags, the progressiveness.
But I am homesick for my wonderful group of Miami friends. My cats. My home. My clothes. Knowing where everything is - just the comfort of that. The vibe on the streets, people saying hello to each other.
I’ve learned and am learning still how to stay close to family and friends when we are physically far apart. And I’ve lost the waiting-for-summer and savoring-every-second-of-summer thrust of my first 4+ decades.
I just want to go home.
But you know what? Maybe it’s because we rented a new apartment in town, or maybe because the end is in sight, or because my husband returned, but this week when I look at the images, I see a happier person.
Maybe my own “savoring summer” can start now. Knowing I am soon back in my comfort zone. Maybe I can better see the beauty. Feel the joys of what’s in front of me. Be grateful for what I have.
