I’ve now been at this Sunday night outfit planning for a while, and the obvious benefits are the calm feeling of having the week planned, a better chance of liking my outfit. But as rains came to Miami, I also appreciated the ability to have some elements and an idea in place so that when the weather acts up, I’m not dealing with the panic of a whole closet, too. It just streamlines things.
The theme for last week was “superhero style.” I was thinking about big belts, bright colors, double cuffs, Superman-style shirt insignias, maybe a cape? I believe in the power of clothes, and I wondered if adopting some of these elements would send me some subliminal strength.
Onto the outfits … (and the next couple outfit planning themes at the end of this newsletter.)

What I wore: Preloved Undercover men’s tee from Veblen. Few seasons old Tibi skirt and yellow cardigan (on bag). Few seasons old Jil Sander sandals from the outlet. Margiela bag. Prada sunglasses turned into eyeglasses.
Why: I really love the silhouette of these Tibi pleated skirts with something over the bum on top — it’s especially strong when the top balloons like so many Tibi ones do, but I also think it works with this oversized men’s tee. I liked the superhero feel of the graphic on the tee and the bright red, and the yellow too! I normally do not wear black and red together! But adding the pinky-tan sandal and straw bag diffuse that, creating a softening bridge between the too. (Hence no black shoe or white sneaker for me here.) More on my “bridge color” theory here.
Outcome: I felt phenomenal in this, actually. I didn’t have meetings, and I was just grinding working, so comfortable but also not sloppy. This was the day somebody on IG said to me “What am I supposed to learn here? This is so unflattering.” But that didn’t change how amazing I felt. I was very confident about this look. If you wanted you could tie a sweater at the waist, sure, but I just enjoyed the easy feel so much. Also enjoyed blocking her immediately.
