If you’re on IG and you haven’t seen Holly (Huajun) Pan, the algo is truly broken. Every post is like a cupcake, side of extra frosting. I still vividly remember my first encounter, what then blew my mind so long ago: her styling a Dion Lee top with garter details in a way that was so creative, yet also somehow accessible. Over the years, she’s become kind of family-adjacent — I introduced my mom to her, and wrote her a note about how much we loved her, and she so graciously responded. Not only is her styling always creative and chock full of ideas, but her storytelling is too, a true costar to the fearless, edgy pairings. She is the queen of generously-shared hacks, taking a seemingly ordinary button up or scarf to places it never dreamed of going. And I didn’t realize it until she started talking about it more, but this whiz with every editing and other tool IG (and beyond) has to offer — is also around my age.
So while I never want to impose (guessing she’s busy AF), I finally asked if we could e-chat fashion. Lucky us, she said yes!
