This past week I asked what you wanted to read and one of the requests, after “How to calmly shop Tibi Coming Soon) was “how to not look dowdy.” You referenced the piece I did on suddenly craving vaguely S + M items in my 50s. And this one, on how things I used to wear ironically simply by pairing with ripped jeans and being 20 or 30, just don’t look ironic any more.
So I think it’s time to take on the D word.
I kicked this off by styling a couple before and afters in my closet. And it was hard! Not only because I dread dowdy so much I think I’ve been ape shit about avoiding it. But also because I have so much Tibi. And honestly one of my “don’t be dowdy” tricks is shopping Tibi. And one of the reasons the brand is so addictive for me. It’s so reliably tapped into modernity. Even when I was ACTIVELY TRYING to dowdy up my pieces, it took some work. But I think we all need examples. So here we go.
