Right.

Numerous times during this month, I was like “sh*t, at the end of this month, I don’t want to have to be writing that I bought this.” And numerous times this month, I bought it anyway.

But it’s not like last month I was “good” and last month I had a breakthrough and this month I was “bad” and it all fell apart. It’s not as simple as I thought it might be when I sat down to write.

To recap, since the start of the year, I’ve gotten more intentional about my shopping, not just hurling myself into the wind and hoping for the best.

This work on how I think about shopping and how I shop included having a “one item month” (ish). And since then, I’ve been going forward and (generally, I think,) continuing to learn and grow while maintaining the unequivocal fact that shopping is something I don’t want to consume me, but also want to continue to delight in. A tricky balance.

This month was — a lot. In every way. So grab your hot bev of choice and settle in.
