Ok first of all, I’m dead at the comparison with guys on paper. Too true. Secondly, this made me think about what is minimalism really is bc I would have pegged the first two (fabulous) outfits as minimalism and then I see the Wednesday and Sunday, and those to me seem to be what people mean when they describe dressing minimalist. As you said, experimenting is fun and great to push boundaries, and it was fun watching this journey!
Love these looks esp. the black transparent skirt !! I’m laughing at your quote ‘ you don’t even know what minimalism is’. You always look fabulous… and I think you are a chic yet precise maximalist 🤍
I love the concept of minimalist dressing can be about minimal effort & feeling good in the pieces rather than over indexing on keeping the looks quiet or less of something. It’s all about a feeling. Love your perspective & your amazing wardrobe!! Thank you for sharing it all.
Thanks so much, Selene! I love this idea too. Somehow beating ourselves up about "not being minimalist enough" feels related to being told we're "too much" at some stage -- when yhou are right, it's about a feeling, and we are just enough! Minimal, maximal, anywhere in between.
Ok well I thought your looks were all minimalist! But then I kinda think solid colors (any color) without to many accessories is minimalist. If minimalist is just the clothes and maybe a belt, I will never be a minimalist. I dress the way I want. I can’t really be put into a category like that because I like dressing with my jewelry which means I will never be that minimalist person. Oh well, be you with your DNA.
Minimalist I'm not. I've tried...mostly out of wanting simplicity in getting dressed and fascination with less-is-more chic. The concept just doesn't pair well with my wild curly red hair and my love of drama. If dressed minimally, I don't quite look like my full self. Guess I'm a more-is-more kinda gal. It suits me. Loved your experiment, Rachel! Made me think and further clarify my own style. Thank you!
Yes, thank you. I do know myself, but I veer. Especially from watching Tibi Lives. I love and appreciate the Tibi ethos, so I find myself buying many pieces and re-interpreting how they are worn to better suit me. With age, I might also be slowly morphing from how I've dressed in the past to where I find myself now. This is a major conundrum. I've yet to nail my adjectives. I have so many style selves and they are all truly me. I am multitudes and each want their day in the sun. 😊
Good on paper boyfriends 😂 I relate on so many levels.
I loved this experiment. I also am drawn to minimalism, but sometimes struggle to make it feel like me. I love the use of the shoes to add an element of edge to the outfits.

Right -- that makes sense, and there is something calming in getting those adjectives down. They can explain the multitudes.
Thank you. I loved all these looks - but do miss your color!
It returned fast LOL -- thank you for writing.
