I want to write something wise and generous, in the spirit of your post, but I can't hear myself think over the roar of regret that I didn't buy that Eckhaus Latta 3rd piece when it was on my TRR favorites list. Where was I? Ah yes: we're all adults, and as long as there is abundant, regular disclosure (which is one of your love languages, as far as I can tell), we can decide how to receive recommendations from one of your client companies. And this is as much as a styling/thinking/playing/living Substack as a shopping one-- you've always encouraged readers to find our own version and nurture our own tastes and get curious about our yucks and yums. In that spirit, please find as many comfy but cool shoe making clients as you possibly can (M. Gemi just doesn't light me up yet.)
One thing I've always deeply respected about you is your candor. Whether it's shopping diary confessions to being honest about your work, you're always authentic.
Best of luck with this new chapter, and I for one am eager to learn about the brands you work with! If you're open to it, would even love to hear a bit more about your day job. What does it mean to help shape a brand?! Would love to get a look under the hood :)
Happy to answer any questions as I am looking to land the right language. But basically you pay a $100 membership fee. Then you fill your “wallet” with offers from brands you get to use when you like. So I used a $100 off purchase at this brand for these boxers. It appears like magic at the end of checkout. It’s worth it for the brands to give this away because they are getting a customer who likes to shop. It’s basically taking what they’d spend on ads and diverting it to an actual shopper.
I’d also love to understand more about your day job, and happy to also learn more about the brands you work with since we get glimpses of them in your outfits too! Appreciate the transparency and love being here!
Go for it! I'm interested to hear about the brands you choose to work with, and it's interesting already with you explaining a little about how you work with clients. I would always trust your recommendations!
