This was lovely! One of the things I miss the most about not being on "style IG" is seeing you talk about clothes. I love seeing your process.
Do you feel that "the full body yes" is tied to a time and place? I find that sometimes I get so familiar with a great piece of clothing that I have a hard time tapping into that YES feeling anymore (even though the feeling is still there, and there are no reservations) and that's led me to some unfortunate culling episodes in the past. I guess I just have a hard time telling apart a once-upon-a-time-YES, a still-and-always-YES, and sentimentality!
Aww! Thanks, Tiia! That's so interesting -- I think the emotion of a piece can confuse me. Like it reminds me of a time I'm nostalgic for tricks me into thinking it's a yes. But I've gotten better at that -- I like the words full BODY yes for the clarity. I look for a feeling i my body too, not only heart/mind. This seems to last until it doesn't. The body changes too. xxoo
This was so much fun - a great exercise in shopping your closet! I love that you pointed out that things that aren’t a full body YES now, aren’t things you are necessarily parting with. I feel that way about many of my pieces. Not full body YES if I were shopping for them today, but I still see value in how I can wear them, their function, etc.
Really enjoyed this! There were so many little nuggets in there as you talked through each piece and the process of becoming a shopper in your own closet. I also had so many little learnings like buying the pieces that are mainstays for a brand’s line, etc. Hope you feel better soon!
I'd like to expand on why this video was so effective for me. I spent many years up to 2020 at around 250lb. Loving fashion, your choices are limited. COVID was my time to focus on my health, and I lost 100lb. Having spent so many years buying things because they looked ok and fitted, I all of a sudden had the luxury to buy damn near anything.... so I did. For a few years I got a full body yes for anything and everything, simply because it looked good. I ended up with tens of thousands of dollars in clothing that just didn't feel like me! I love loose, oversized, modern shapes... but had convinced myself that I should wear things that showed my figure. Your masterclass is truly valuable as I learn to reclaim what i love about clothing. ❤️
THANK YOU for sharing this -- I completely get it. I find that when something has been a challenge i'm the most prone to buying without a filter-- like when a shoe is comfy, I'm just so relieved, sometimes I've forgotten to ask if I like or need it. It seems like you've come so far not only in terms of prioritizing your health as you said but also honing in on what you love. I just really appreciate your kindness and openness xxoo
Loved your latest video—another fashion masterclass! 🙌 I found your statement so interesting. It totally got me thinking about how designers like Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, and even Vivienne Westwood create pieces that feel timeless to me. They’re bold, unique, and somehow work across eras. Such a cool perspective, loved it! 💕
This was a wonderful watch. I loved the focus on blazers as I enjoyed hearing exactly what worked for you and what didn't, specifically related to the blazers. Really effective!
So many amazing pieces Rachel and I love the idea of trying everything on to get an understanding of what gives a YES today. I’ve been procrastinating for months to clear out my closets but this is a good approach to start with. Hope you feel better soon. X
So fun! Love the Nomia blazer - have seen them pop up on TRR from time to time for those interested. Rachel, can I ask what size yours is? I have never seen Nomia in real life so not sure how it fits.
Also, the Dries piece looks amazing on you - your face glows when it’s on. Please never let it go, it was made to stay with you!
Enjoyed this. The cut on the pink Dries is perfect! I also made note of your advice to snap up “repeater” items in a brand’s line; it makes sense that they don’t go on sale, are hard to find resale, and are only gonna get more expensive
I love the miu miu with puffy sleeves and the see thru one that you haven’t been wearing. Would you ever wear the see thru one with a white tank? It would be 🔥!!!

YES! You could pick up a piece from any era and it would still feel 100% relevant and compelling … thanks for watching xxx
