I use art as inspiration too! I have a thing with museums where, in order to avoid overwhelm, I make a date with a specific list of artworks-no more than 5. Of course I see other things on the way! Last time I went to NY I played with using the art I chose (this time for book research as well as pleasure) to inspire my packing. It was the best, most satisfying packing job ever. It was so cool to see how my eye was drawn to similar things in different mediums and what a cohesive asthetic it turned out to be when expressed through the clothes.

This is genius, all of it. Including your "date with 5."

It makes it so special! Like truly romantic and exciting. I love context so I research the art and the anticipatory rush is the best!

I love it when you say why you HATED an outfit. I am so envious of those Prada PJs but totally "get" the scrubs sentiment. I wonder if you like them better in Miami where they can be the whole outfit and there is no struggle with outerwear? I have been so interested in those beads and 30 off might seal the deal. I would have only warn in summer temps...so cool to see in cold Boston too. And (no surprise) I LOVE the all navy. Always.

You couldn’t have picked a better week for the Rothko-inspired theme—seriously, so good. In Florida’s sunny warmth, you nailed his vibrant palette, and Boston's chilly vibe was perfect for exploring the darker tones. Loved all the outfits, but as someone who’s all about darker colors, your Sunday look totally stole the show. Those pants from The Row... chef’s kiss (😍). By the way, how are your parents doing? I hope they’re feeling better now!

Glorious colour, Rachel. The darkness sounds less fun for you yet still you manage to find humour for us. No wonder these substacks exhaust you! Hope you’re able to find time to take care of yourself. Btw, I too have a set of blue scrubs and the only inspo in that album is a pic of you in yours with gold shoes and your beloved JS bag. It’s a great outfit. 🩵

What is it about Boston that just ZAPS that creativity out of me?! I lived there in college, grew up an hour away thinking it was the coolest city ever, but I found post-grad life there to very unsatisfying. Would be curious if other creatives feel that way — on the other hand, I can see why it's a great spot for academics!

All these outfits kill it, per usual!

Sigh. Dark + judgey! XX

Haha on the darkness of Boston - in my previous corporate life I had to fly there from Salt Lake City three times a month for years - I was always surprised when it was dusk at 4:30 in the winter🙃

And I think I said this in a post however so cool you have so many “built in” colorlayering pieces❤️

I loved this. I don't wear nearly as much color as you do, but it was such a joy to see your outfits next to the painting that inspired them. Then I got to the dark neutrals and was like "AHH, YES". What a fun way to find inspiration!

SAD is real and I think your other home being in a year round warm city means Boston’s cold might make things hard. I live in year-round sunshine so when it’s overcast, I really struggle.
